Designed for babies due December 2026 to early February 2027.

This supportive seven-week course combines comprehensive antenatal education, practical preparation and effective hypnobirthing tools.

Course dates (sessions 1-6 in-person)

  • Session 1: Thursday 1st October 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 2: Thursday 8th October 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 3: Thursday 15th October 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 4: Thursday 22nd October 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 5: Thursday 29th October 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 6: Thursday 5th November 2026 7-9pm

  • Session 7 (Online): Birth-partner session To be scheduled with the group nearer the time. (90mins max).

What each session covers

Session 1: Preparing for labour

  • The stages of labour and what your body is doing

  • Birth hormones and their impact on labour (& postnatally)

  • Preparing physically and emotionally for birth

  • Where to give birth, options available.

Session 2: Pain relief and birth interventions

  • Breathing, movement and practical comfort measures

  • Medical and non-medical pain-relief options

  • Induction of labour

  • Assisted birth and caesarean birth

  • Understanding benefits, risks and alternatives

  • Recovery from interventions (physically and emotionally)

  • Birth hormones and birth environment

Session 3: Birth rights and confident decision-making

  • Your choices, rights and consent

  • Using the BRAIN decision-making tool

  • How to advocate for yourself

  • Creating flexible birth plans

  • How birth partners can advocate effectively and birth partners role.

Session 4: Birth & first 48 hours

  • Birth positions

  • Optimal and realistic birth environment

  • Third stage of labour

  • What happens immediately after birth & mum and baby checks

  • Skin-to-skin and the golden hour (s)

  • Newborns in the first 48 hours and what to expect including first feeds.

  • Postnatal birth partner support

Session 5: You have a baby…now what?

  • Newborn cues, crying and settling

  • Breast and/or bottle feeding

  • Safe sleep

  • Nappies, cord care and bathing

  • Dressing babies and managing temperature

  • Burping and common newborn worries

  • Practical preparation for the early weeks

Session 6: Practical newborn confidence

  • Physical and emotional recovery after birth

  • Matrescence—the transition into motherhood

  • Postnatal wellbeing and knowing when to seek help

  • Relationships, communication and sharing the load

  • Realistic expectations of early parenthood

Session 7: Online birth-partner and hypnobirthing session

  • The birth partner’s practical and emotional role

  • How to support your partner - confidence in advocating and to be responsive

  • Relaxation and breathing techniques

  • Practical mindful hypnobirthing tools to ensure a calm, confident mindset
